Flames 4, Ducks 3 (SO)
Defenseman Dennis Wideman scored twice in the third period and Sean Monahan netted the decisive goal in the shootout as host Calgary erased a two-goal deficit in the final frame to stun struggling Anaheim.
Jiri Hudler also scored and rookie Markus Granlund had two assists for the Flames, who won their sixth straight Western Conference game. Jonas Hiller, who was 162-110-32 in seven seasons with Anaheim, made 24 saves in his first game against his former team and preserved the victory by stopping Corey Perry.
Defenseman Sami Vatanen collected a goal and two assists and Matt Beleskey and Kyle Palmieri also tallied for the Ducks, who fell to 1-1-5 in their last seven games and 12-3-2 versus Calgary since the start of 2010-11. Frederik Andersen, who was pulled in two of his last three starts, made 16 saves for Anaheim.
Vatanen started the scoring when he sent a wrist shot between Hiller's pads at 15:54 with Wideman in the penalty box for tripping, Beleskey tipped defenseman Hampus Lindholm's shot into the net to make it 2-0 at 12:29 of the second period. Hudler collected a loose puck in the slot and shot it into an open goal with Andersen out of position at 3:25 of the third and Calgary tied it 5:38 later when Wideman stepped into a shot from the right circle and beat Andersen high to the stick side.
The Flames seized a 3-2 lead when Wideman accepted a feed from Johnny Gaudreau and beat Andersen high to the glove side from nearly the identical spot with 6:17 remaining for his seventh goal of the season. The Ducks tied it 1:22 later as Palmieri - playing his second game of the season after returning from an ankle injury - chipped a shot near the crease that trickled past Hiller on the power play before surviving an overtime period dominated by Calgary.
