Nick Foligno’s second goal of the game 4:41 into overtime lifted visiting Columbus to its fifth straight victory.

Sergei Bobrovsky made 39 saves for the Blue Jackets, who won for the first time in five visits to Washington. Defenseman Kevin Connauton added a goal for the second consecutive contest while defenseman James Wisniewski notched a pair of assists.

Eric Fehr and Troy Brouwer scored for the Capitals, who saw their three-game winning streak come to an end. Braden Holtby stopped 20 shots, while captain Alex Ovechkin registered a game-high nine shots on Bobrovsky.

Brouwer tipped defenseman Matt Niskanen’s point shot past Bobrovsky 9:20 into the third period to put Washington ahead, but Connauton forced overtime with a slap shot through traffic 1:39 later. Foligno buried a one-timer from the right faceoff circle during a man advantage in the extra session to complete the comeback.

Fehr got a piece of blue-liner John Carlson’s shot while on the power play 3:19 into the contest as Washington controlled most of the first period. Foligno snapped a shot from the high slot with 4:24 remaining in the period to forge a 1-1 tie.
