Stars 4, Blues 3

Defensemen Trevor Daley and Jason Demers scored second-period power-play goals to help lift visiting Dallas to its fifth win in six games.

Travis Moen netted his first goal of the season and Ryan Garbutt added an unassisted tally as the Stars send St. Louis to its season-high fourth straight defeat (0-3-1). Kari Lehtonen turned aside 30 shots as Dallas improved to 4-0-1 in its last five meetings with the Blues.

Vladimir Tarasenko, defenseman Alex Pietrangelo and captain David Backes scored for St. Louis, which has been pierced for 18 goals - eight on the power play - during the four-game skid. Rookie Jake Allen made 20 saves in his third straight setback.

After the teams traded tallies in the opening 20 minutes, Daley put the Stars ahead to stay with a wrist shot from the slot at 7:41 of the second. Demers converted from in front with 48 seconds left in the session, but Backes redirected blue-liner Jay Bouwmeester's point shot at 5:40 of the third to cut the deficit to 4-3.

An awful giveaway by Allen behind his own net gave Moen an easy goal 2:08 into the contest, but Pietrangelo answered only 27 seconds later. Garbutt capitalized on another bad turnover - this time by Blues defenseman Petteri Lindbohm - with 5:14 left in the period before Tarasenko netted the equalizer 84 seconds later, burying a sharp-angle carom off the boards during a power play for his 21st goal.
