Kings 4, Blue Jackets 3
Jeff Carter and Dwight King each recorded a goal and an assist as visiting Los Angeles held on to post its second straight victory.
Tyler Toffoli and captain Dustin Brown also scored for the Kings, who completed a 2-3-0 road trip. Jonathan Quick finished with 23 saves as Los Angeles improved to 7-12-6 away from home.
Defenseman David Savard scored a goal and set up another while Scott Hartnell tallied in his 1,000th NHL game for the Blue Jackets, who were swept of the two-game season series. Jack Skille added a goal and Curtis McElhinney turned aside 40 shots in a losing effort.
Columbus took a quick lead as Skille's pass attempt from low in the right faceoff circle caromed off the skate of Los Angeles defenseman Jamie McBain and in 1:40 into the contest, but the advantage was short-lived as King converted a similar feed from Carter 32 seconds later. Toffoli put the Kings ahead at 8:01, beating McElhinney from the low slot after a feed from bottom of the left circle by King.
Hartnell drew the Blue Jackets even with 5:44 left in the second period, when he received a cross-slot return pass and slid the puck under Quick from low in the right circle. Carter answered 78 seconds later by tipping defenseman Brayden McNabb's pass from the left circle and Brown gave Los Angeles a two-goal lead 1:49 into the third as he buried the rebound of Marian Gaborik's blast from the top of the slot.
