Flames 5, Rangers 4 (OT)
CALGARY, Alberta -- The Calgary Flames survived a New York Rangers rally on Saturday night and won 5-4 on T.J. Brodie's goal at 2:09 of overtime.
The Rangers came back from a 4-1 deficit in the third period and forced overtime with a power play goal with 1:12 left when a point-shot went in off Mats Zuccarello.
Left winger Tanner Glass and defenseman Dan Boyle also scored in the third period for the Rangers.
Left winger Johnny Gaudreau scored twice, including a breakaway beauty early in the third period, to lead the Flames (13-14-2) to their ninth straight win.
Left winger Mason Raymond and center Joe Colborne also scored for Calgary, which has won nine straight at home, one shy of tying a franchise record.
Center J.T. Miller got the Rangers' first goal of the night.
Gaudreau broke in and slipped the puck between Rangers goaltender Antti Raanta's pads to give the Flames a 3-1 lead at 2:32 of the third perod.
Colborne chipped the puck over Raanta's shoulder at 4:57 to give the Flames a 4-1 lead, but Glass jammed the puck in during a scramble at 5:13 and Boyle did the same at 15:06.
Raanta made 21 saves starting in place of No. 1 Henrik Lundqvist, who was pulled in the third period of Friday's loss in Edmonton.
Jonas Hiller stopped 25 shots in the Calgary goal.
Right winger Kris Versteeg redirected a shot by Faulk from the right point for his third goal of the season at 8:37 of the first period. With an assist on the play, defenseman Ron Hainsey has a point in five straight games.
Right winger Andrej Nestrasil had his third goal of the season on a power play with four seconds remaining in the first period to make it 2-0, hitting a wide-open net after taking a cross-ice pass from center Jordan Staal.
Carolina left winger Jeff Skinner had a penalty shot five minutes into the first period but mishandled the puck as he neared the crease and did not get off a good shot. He had a hat trick in a 5-1 victory at Anaheim on Friday.
Skinner had an assist on right winger Phillip Di Giuseppe's second goal of the season at 15:24 of the second period for a 3-0 lead. Di Giuseppe, a second-round draft choice in 2012, was promoted Dec. 5.
