Senators 3, Red Wings 2 (SO)
OTTAWA -- Center Kyle Turris scored the shootout winner as the Ottawa Senators staged a late rally to defeat the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 on Saturday night at Canadian Tire Centre.
Turris, who has not scored in 23 games, was the only player to find the back of the net in the shootout.
Senators defenseman Dion Phaneuf tied the score with a shot from the point with 3:51 left in the third period.
Winger Zack Smith also scored for the Senators. Centers Andreas Athanasious and Brad Richards had the Detroit goals.
Senators goalie Craig Anderson made 29 saves and Red Wings goalie Petr Mrazek stopped 25 shots.
The decision gave the Senators their first three-game winning streak since November.
After a scoreless first half, the Red Wings opened the scoring when Senators defensemen Erik Karlsson passed the puck from behind his own net to Athanasiou, who one-timed a slap shot behind Anderson at 10:46 of the second.
Another turnover tied the score exactly one minute later. Senators center Jean-Gabriel Pageau threw the puck in front of the net to where a diving Zack Smith redirected it behind Mrazek.
Detroit went back in front at 17:52 of the second period when Richards was trying to find defenseman Mike Green with a pass near the Ottawa net. Attempting to intercept, Karlsson wound up deflecting the puck between Anderson's legs.
The Red Wings outshot the Senators 9-6 in the first period.
