Boedker, Couture lead Sharks past Canucks

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Mikkel Boedker and Logan Couture scored goals 2:49 apart in the third period as the San Jose Sharks defeated the Vancouver Canucks 4-1 Saturday.

Tomas Hertl and Patrick Marleau also scored for the Sharks (36-18-7), who haven't lost in Vancouver for over five years. Chris Tierney broke an eight-game pointless streak with a pair of assists.

Daniel Sedin scored for the Canucks (26-29-6), who have three wins in their last 12 games (3-9-0).

Canucks goaltender Ryan Miller stopped 22 shots. San Jose goalie Martin Jones made 35 saves.

The Canucks, who have five players affected by the mumps, dressed three players from their AHL farm team.

Boedker ended a 20-game goal drought when he turned a turnover by defenseman Ben Hutton into a breakaway. He beat Miller high on the blocker side at 11:31.

Couture scored his 20th of the season on a power play at 14:20.

San Jose scored late in the second period to take a 2-1 lead into the third.

After a scoreless first period, a bad line change set up San Jose's opening goal at 3:31 of the second.

A Vancouver miscommunication at the blue line gave Joel Ward a breakaway. Miller made the save but the puck rolled behind the net. Tierney fed it back out front where Hertl had an open net.

A Brent Burns turnover led to Vancouver tying the game at 12:02. A Burns clearing attempt was intercepted by Henrik Sedin. He passed to Daniel, who beat Jones for his 13th goal of the season but just his second in 17 games.

Marleau put the Sharks ahead at 19:09. Tierney passed to David Schlemko at the side of the net. He slid the puck through the crease to Marleau, who tucked it into the open corner.
