Raptors 104, Cavaliers 96

Jose Calderon had 15 points and 11 assists, one of seven Raptors in double figures, and Toronto spoiled the debut of top overall pick Kyrie Irving in its 104-96 victory Monday against the host Cleveland Cavaliers.

Irving had six points and seven assists, but shot just 2-of-12 from the floor. He had seven assists.

Leandro Barbosa had 14 points off the bench, Andrea Bargnani had 13 points and Amir Johnson had 12 points and 12 assists for the Raptors, who shot 53 percent from the floor and 43 percent on 3-pointers (9 of 21). The Cavs were the worst team in the league at defending the 3-pointer last season.

The Raptors built a 15-point lead in the third quarter before the Cavs’ reserves cut the deficit to four early in the fourth.

Ramon Sessions had 18 points and six assists and Tristan Thompson, the fourth pick in the draft, had 14 points and five rebounds for the Cavs.
