Predators 3, Canucks 1

Mike Fisher netted his first goal with his new team and Pekka Rinne turned aside 35 shots as the Nashville Predators scored three times in the second period en route to a 3-1 triumph over the visiting Vancouver Canucks on Thursday.

Martin Erat collected a goal and an assist for his 10th points in nine games and Nick Spaling also tallied as Nashville (31-19-8) improved to 3-0-1 in its last four games.

With the game tied at 1-1, Spaling and Fisher tallied 49 seconds apart late in the second period to seal the win.

Fisher was playing in his fifth game with the Predators after being shipped to Music City from the Ottawa Senators last Thursday for a pair of draft picks.

After permitting a power-play goal to All-Star Daniel Sedin with 1:45 remaining in the second period, Rinne closed the door to improve to 21-14-6 on the season.

Roberto Luongo dropped his second straight contest after spanning 21 consecutive outings without a regulation loss. The 31-year-old Montreal native turned aside 23 shots for league-leading Vancouver (37-13-9).
