Rangers 7, Flyers 0
Ryan Callahan scored four times and Henrik Lundqvist earned his league-leading ninth shutout of the season as the host New York Rangers cruised to a 7-0 victory over the reeling Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday afternoon.
Callahan, who came into the game with just one goal in his previous eight contests, enjoyed a career performance as the Rangers moved three points clear of the idle Carolina Hurricanes for seventh spot in the Eastern Conference. The Hurricanes have three games in hand.
Callahan put the Rangers up just 51 seconds into the game, and padded the lead on a power play at 12:58. Rookie Mats Zuccarello made it 3-0 at the five-minute mark of the second period, and Callahan followed with an unassisted marker at 6:28 to cap his first career hat trick.
His fourth goal came on another Rangers man advantage 4:20 into the third.
Zuccarello finished with a pair of goals while Artem Anisimov added a third-period marker in the one-sided victory.
Lundqvist did the rest, stopping 24 shots for his 33rd career shutout.
Brian Boucher and Sergei Bobrovsky combined to make 29 saves for the Flyers, who have dropped four straight games.
