Rangers 3, Flyers 2 (SO)

Erik Christensen and Wojtek Wolski scored in the first two rounds of the shootout and Henrik Lundqvist denied both attempts as the New York Rangers skated to a 3-2 road triumph over the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday.

Defenseman Bryan McCabe scored on a 5-on-3 power play and former Flyer Ruslan Fedotenko also tallied for New York (42-32-5), which remained one point behind seventh-place Buffalo (40-29-10). The Sabres posted a 2-1 overtime triumph over the ninth-place Carolina Hurricanes (38-30-11) later in the day.

During the shootout, Christensen deked rookie Sergei Bobrovsky and lifted the puck past him in the first round. Wolski ended the contest after tucking the puck under Bobrovsky's pad.

Making his career-best 23rd consecutive start, Lundqvist turned aside 32 shots and denied former Ranger Nikolay Zherdev and All-Star Claude Giroux in the shootout.

James van Riemsdyk netted his 21st of the season and second in as many games and Zherdev added a power-play tally for Philadelphia (46-22-11), which pulled even with the idle Washington Capitals (46-22-11) for the top spot in the Eastern Conference standings. With the loss, the Flyers fell to 6-7-5 in their last 18 games.

Giroux notched a pair of assists and Bobrovsky turned aside 32 shots in the loss.
