Rangers 3, Senators 2
Marian Gaborik scored twice as the New York Rangers registered their season-high fifth consecutive victory, edging the host Ottawa Senators 3-2 Wednesday night.
The Gaborik-Derek Stepan-Artem Anisimov line was unstoppable, combining for seven points as the Rangers atoned for a 5-4 home loss to the Senators last month. New York hasn't lost since.
After a scoreless opening 20 minutes, Milan Michalek put Ottawa on the board at 8:39 of the second period. The Czech star fired a wrist shot from the high slot past New York netminder Henrik Lundqvist for his team-best 10th goal of the season.
Gaborik answered less than a minute later, gathering up a nifty pass from Stepan and shooting the puck into an open net. Stepan did his own damage just over two minutes later, backhanding a rebound past Ottawa netminder Craig Anderson.
Gaborik added to the lead at 8:30 of the third period before Nick Foligno drew the Senators back to within a goal, taking a pass from Stephane Da Costa and whistling a wrist shot that eluded Lundqvist up high at 9:48.
Lundqvist held on from there, recording 28 saves to preserve the Rangers' winning streak.
Anderson made 16 saves in defeat.
