Red Wings 4, Ducks 2
Johan Franzen collected a goal and an assist and Jimmy Howard turned aside 32 shots as the Detroit Red Wings skated to a 4-2 road triumph over the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday.
Defenseman Brad Stuart tallied twice and Henrik Zetterberg scored 86 seconds into the contest for Detroit, which has won two straight games away from Hockeytown after dropping its previous five on the road.
After recording a goal and two assists in the Red Wings' 5-0 win over the Ducks on Nov. 5, Franzen picked up right where he left off Sunday.
Franzen gave Detroit a 2-0 advantage just 14 seconds into the middle session after taking advantage of defenseman Cam Fowler's giveaway and wristing a shot past Jonas Hiller. The veteran Swede then set up Stuart nearly seven minutes later.
Saku Koivu put Anaheim on the scoreboard and Teemu Selanne closed the deficit to one after cleaning up a rebound with 3:39 remaining in the second period.
The Ducks couldn't solve Howard again and suffered their fourth straight loss and 13th in 15 games (2-9-4).
A power failure held up the game for approximately 25 minutes before play resumed in the first period.
