Stars 3, Kings 2 (OT)

Steve Ott scored at 2:41 of overtime to propel the Dallas Stars to a thrilling 3-2 home victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday.

After Mike Ribeiro kept the play alive despite taking a big hit from Jack Johnson, Stars blue-liner Stephane Robidas picked up the puck and fed Ott, whose shot eluded Kings netminder Jonathan Quick to the delight of more than 11,000 fans at the American Airlines Center.

Jamie Benn and Loui Eriksson scored in regulation for Dallas, which has won two straight following a five-game losing skid.

Kevin Westgarth scored his first NHL goal and Mike Richards added his eighth in 10 games as the Kings fell to Dallas for the first time in five encounters.

Trailing 2-1 despite dominating play in the third period, the Stars stunned the visitors by tying the score with 20.3 seconds remaining. Just as a slashing penalty to the Kings' Ethan Moreau was expiring, Eriksson converted a Benn pass for his 10th goal of the campaign.

The Kings opened the scoring at 4:53 of the second period. Captain Dustin Brown centered the puck to a wide-open Richards, whose wrist shot slid between the legs of Dallas netminder Kari Lehtonen and crawled across the goal line.

Westgarth doubled the lead just 36 seconds later, jumping on a Stars turnover and slapping the puck high past Lehtonen on the glove side.

Benn broke the Dallas goose-egg just past the two-minute mark of the third, waiting out a sprawling Quick before firing the puck overtop of the Kings netminder.
