Stars 2, Kings 1

Trevor Daly scored the go-ahead goal with 3:16 remaining in the second period and Richard Bachman earned his first NHL win as the Dallas Stars skated to a 2-1 triumph over the host Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night.

Jamie Benn scored a power-play tally to snap a six-game goalless streak and Daley added an assist for Dallas, which had dropped five of six road games.

Bachman stopped 26 shots in his first career start and third overall appearance.

Brad Richardson scored a shorthanded goal for the Kings, who dropped their fourth straight.

With the game scoreless late in the first period, Michael Ryder skated down the right side and drove toward the net. He flicked the puck on goal as Benn finished from the doorstep at 13:35. Officials reviewed the play as Kings players argued Benn kicked the puck in, but the goal was upheld.

Richardson evened things at 13:58 of the second with Jarrett Stoll in the box for boarding. Anze Kopitar poked the puck away in the Kings’ end, leading to a two-on-none breakout. Richardson’s wrist shot sailed between Bachman’s legs for his first of the season.

Daly put the Stars out in front for good just under three minutes later, unleashing a wrister that glanced off the post and netminder Jonathan Bernier’s leg into the net.

Bachman preserved victory by stopping Brown’s snap shot with 1:38 left, then surviving a late 6-on-5.
