Blackhawks 6, Ducks 5

Patrick Sharp recorded his second career hat trick and Jonathan Toews scored twice and had five points as the visiting Chicago Blackhawks exploded for four goals in the third period to defeat the reeling Anaheim Ducks 6-5 on Friday.

Toews and Sharp scored 28 seconds apart in the first 1:32 of the third to tie the game at 4-4 before Sharp’s third goal – a wrist shot from the top of the right faceoff circle at 3:33 for his 10th of the season – chased goaltender Jonas Hiller.

Toews, who assisted on all of Sharp’s goals, scored his second at 9:22 and has 12 this season as the Blackhawks (13-7-3) snapped a three-game losing streak and won for only the seven time in their last 27 trips to Anaheim.

Bobby Ryan had two goals and Teemu Selanne, Andrew Cogliano and Corey Perry also scored for the Ducks (6-12-4), who have lost six straight and 12 of their last 13. Perry’s goal came with 7.2 seconds left.

The Ducks led 2-0 in the first period when Ryan and Cogliano scored 59 seconds apart before Sharp made it a one-goal game at 6:09.

After Teemu Selanne’s 645th career goal – and 240th on the power play – put Anaheim in front 3-1, Dave Bolland connected with a man advantage to get the Blackhawks back within one.

Corey Crawford (10-6-2) made 23 saves and snapped a three-game losing streak.

Hiller stopped 28 of 33 shots before giving way to Dan Ellis.
