Coyotes 3, Stars 0
Mike Smith turned aside 26 shots for his second shutout of the season as the host Phoenix Coyotes earned a 3-0 victory over the Dallas Stars, who lost starting netminder Kari Lehtonen to injury.
Smith improved to 11-4-3 on the season and has allowed two goals or fewer in eight of 10 games so far in November.
Dallas counterpart Lehtonen left the game 5 1/2 minutes into the first period after injuring his groin while stretching to make a save on a Derek Morris point shot. The veteran netminder had to be helped off the ice by a pair of teammates.
Phoenix took advantage, with Mikkel Boedker kicked off the scoring 15 minutes into the opening period. The speedy winger poked home a loose puck after Keith Yandle's initial shot was blocked by Raycroft.
Ray Whitney doubled the advantage at the six-minute mark of the second period, one-timing a Radim Vrbata pass from the bottom of the right circle to beat Raycroft along the ice.
Taylor Pyatt made it a three-goal margin midway through the third, converting on a goalmouth scramble with Raycroft out of position.
