Blue Jackets 4, Flames 3 (SO)
Captain Rick Nash tied the game with 58 seconds remaining in regulation and netted the lone goal of the shootout in the third round as the Columbus Blue Jackets rallied from a two-goal deficit to post a 4-3 road triumph over the Calgary Flames on Thursday.
Defenseman Nikita Nikitin collected a goal and two assists, Antoine Vermette also scored and Vinny Prospal recorded his 700th career point as Columbus posted just its second road win of the season.
Making his eighth straight start, Curtis Sanford finished with 32 saves and denied Alex Tanguay, Lee Stempniak and Rene Bourque in the shootout to preserve the win.
After tipping Nikitin's point shot past Miikka Kiprusoff in the final minute of regulation, Nash then beat the veteran Finn in the shootout between the pads with a wrist shot.
Kiprusoff finished with 30 saves and fell to 11-0-3 in 14 career home starts versus the Blue Jackets.
Stempniak scored for the second time in three contests, Bourque also tallied and Blake Comeau collected his first point of the season for Calgary. Comeau was claimed off waivers last week from the New York Islanders.
