Flames 2, Blue Jackets 1 (SO)

Captain Jarome Iginla scored his 498th career goal to tie the game early in the third period before netting the lone tally the shootout as the Calgary Flames recorded their season-high fourth straight victory with a 2-1 road triumph over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday.

After Mark Letestu was denied by Miikka Kiprusoff in the first round, Iginla made a series of dekes before tucking the puck past Steve Mason to give the Flames the advantage in the bonus format.

Columbus captain Rick Nash was denied by a poke check and defenseman James Wisniewski hit the post as the Blue Jackets dropped their sixth in a row.

Kiprusoff finished with 27 saves to secure the victory.

After a lackluster first period that saw limited chances by both teams, Derick Brassard opened the scoring midway through second.

Columbus' power-play opportunity had just ended when rookie Ryan Johansen's shot was blocked by defenseman Scott Hannan. Brassard collected the puck at the right faceoff circle and wristed a shot past Kiprusoff for his fourth goal of the season and second in four games.

Iginla leveled the contest 3:06 into the third period after some brilliant stickhandling before backhanding the puck past Mason for a power-play tally.
