Oilers 4, Wild 1
Jordan Eberle scored twice as the Edmonton Oilers halted a four-game losing skid with a 4-1 victory over the stumbling Minnesota Wild on Friday night.
Eberle's third and fourth goals in the last three games provided more than enough offense for the Oilers, who handed the Wild their season-high sixth consecutive loss.
Minnesota has just five goals over the course of the streak, which included an 0-3-0 run through Western Canada.
Eberle opened the scoring with just over four minutes remaining in the first period and the Oilers enjoying a power play. The second-year forward gloved a loose puck before toe-dragging around a defender and flipping a shot over Minnesota netminder Niklas Backstrom.
Ryan Smyth doubled the lead at 18:36, converting a wraparound for his first goal in 11 games.
Lennart Petrell struck on a shorthanded breakaway early in the second period to make it 3-0, and Eberle's second of the night on a slick deke from in close at 2:56 made it a rout.
Dany Heatley broke the Minnesota goose egg just inside the eight-minute mark of the third period, slapping home a loose puck from the left faceoff dot for his first goal in six games.
