Blackhawks 3, Red Wings 2
Defenseman Brent Seabrook snapped a tie early in the third period and Corey Crawford turned aside 26 shots as the Chicago Blackhawks skated to a 3-2 home triumph over the Detroit Red Wings on Friday.
Captain Jonathan Toews converted a penalty shot late in the first period and former Red Wing Marian Hossa scored for the fifth time in eight games for Chicago, which defeated Detroit in the first meeting between the Original Six rivals this season.
After the teams traded goals in both the first and second periods, Seabrook gave Chicago its first lead just 1:52 into the third.
The blue-liner blasted a shot from the high slot which beat Jimmy Howard for his second goal of the season - and fourth in as many games versus the Red Wings.
Crawford made the slim advantage stand up by stopping all seven shots in the third period to improve to 5-2-0 in his career against the Red Wings.
Veteran Todd Bertuzzi scored on a deflection and Justin Abdelkader cleaned up a rebound for Detroit, which saw its modest two-game winning streak come to an end.
Howard finished with 25 saves.
