Defenseman Filip Kuba scored to snap a tie with 1:11 remaining in the third period as the Ottawa Senators erased a two-goal deficit to salvage a split of a home-and-home series with the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday with a 6-4 triumph in Canada's capital city.
All-Star defenseman Erik Karlson collected a goal and an assist - and finished with a plus-5 rating. Fellow All-Star Daniel Alfredsson and Chris Neil also scored and set up a tally for Ottawa, which has won five of its last six (5-0-1) and moved to within three points of the Northeast Division-leading Boston Bruins.
Colin Greening and Nick Foligno also tallied as the Senators scored four times in the third period to post their fourth straight home victory.
With Philadelphia nursing a 4-2 lead, Greening scored and Karlsson took advantage of Jaromir Jagr's turnover and beat Ilya Bryzgalov on a breakaway to tie the game early in the third period. Kuba then gave the Senators the lead with a blast from the left point which beat Brygalov to give Ottawa a 5-4 lead.
Rookie Matt Read collected a goal and an assist and fellow first-year players Marc-Andre Bourdon and Sean Couturier also tallied for Philadelphia, which saw its modest two-game winning streak come to an end.
Jagr returned to the ice after aggravating a groin injury during the Winter Classic.
