Bruins 2, Canadiens 1

Milan Lucic scored the game-winning goal early in the third period and All-Star Tim Thomas made 33 saves as the Boston Bruins skated to a 2-1 victory over the visiting Montreal Canadiens on Thursday.

The Canadiens pulled struggling left wing Michael Cammalleri out of the contest - and later confirmed that he was traded to the Calgary Flames. Cammalleri had made disparaging comments about the team's losing attitude on Wednesday. The Flames also received goaltender Karri Ramo and a fifth-round pick in the 2012 draft for Rene Bourque, Patrick Holland and a second-round selection in the 2013 draft.

Lucic’s 15th goal of the season came at 3:43 of the third as he put a backhander over All-Star goalie Carey Price’s right pad. The play started when David Krejci won a race to avoid an icing and passed to Nathan Horton, who found Lucic in front.

Krejci extended his point streak to 10 games with the helper. He has five goals and 10 assists in that span.

Yannick Weber spoiled Thomas’ shutout bid with a power-play goal at 12:46 of the third period. His fourth of the season came off a point shot that fooled a screened Thomas.

Boston’s Jordan Caron was the benefactor of a bad bounce off the sideboards just 1:23 into the first period. Caron deposited the puck into an empty net as Price was preparing to play the puck.

It was Boston’s first shot on goal and Caron’s second goal of the season.
