Senators 3, Maple Leafs 2
Captain Daniel Alfredsson and Kyle Turris each had a goal and an assist as the Ottawa Senators rallied for a 3-2 victory over the host Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 on Tuesday in the latest Battle of Ontario.
Ottawa netminder Craig Anderson made 37 saves to improve to 9-0-1 in his last 10 games.
Turris gave the Senators their decisive goal 1:24 into the third period when he snapped a shot short side under the crossbar on James Reimer. It was his third goal of the season.
Despite being outshot 21-6 in the middle frame, Jason Spezza’s 20th of the season for the Senators was the lone goal to tie the game at 2-2. Kaspars Daugavins kicked a rebound toward the net and the puck hit Spezza’s stick before crossing the goal line.
Alfredsson scored his 15th of the season with eight seconds left in the opening frame for Ottawa, which erased a 2-0 deficit.
Matthew Lombardi scored his third and Joffrey Lupul his 20th goal of the season for the Maple Leafs in the first period. Lupul finished off a two-on-one with Phil Kessel.
