Coyotes 2, Ducks 1 (SO)
Captain Shane Doan scored the decisive shootout goal in the fourth round as host Arizona edged league-leading Anaheim.
After three scoreless rounds, Doan attempted a snap shot when the blade of his stick broke. Despite him getting next to nothing on the shot, the puck slid past Frederik Andersen and inside the right post, and Devan Dubnyk denied Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf to seal the victory.
Defenseman Zbynek Michalek scored in regulation for the Coyotes, who have won consecutive games for the first time since Nov. 14 and 16. Dubnyk turned aside 35 shots as Arizona posted its fourth triumph in 14 games.
Rene Bourque tallied for the Ducks, who are 6-0-2 in their last eight meetings with the Coyotes. Andersen finished with 28 saves and Getzlaf notched an assist to extend his point streak to seven games.
Anaheim opened the scoring at 9:16 of the first period as Getzlaf weaved through several defenders and made a pass from the right side of the crease to Bourque, who knocked the puck past Dubnyk from the doorstep. The Coyotes answered 73 seconds later, when Michalek's one-timer from the right point beat a screened Andersen just inside the left post.
