After a scoreless first period, Calgary got on the board 9:28 into the second as Paul Byron cut across the top of the slot before dropping a pass to Russell, who beat Stalock with a blast from above the left faceoff circle. Hudler doubled the lead during a power play 2:27 later, converting All-Star Johnny Gaudreau's pass from behind the net while on the doorstep.

Raymond made it 3-0 with 1:57 left in the session, one-timing Joe Colborne's feed past Stalock from the right circle. Scott spoiled Hiller's shutout bid at 2:48 of the third, when he buried a loose puck after former Flames defenseman Scott Hannan's pass attempt was deflected.
