WINNIPEG, Manitoba -- Adam Lowry scored on a wraparound play early in the third period and the Winnipeg Jets went on to a 2-0 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night.
With wingers Matt Halischuk and Chris Thorburn digging away at a loose puck in the crease, Lowry recovered the disc behind the net, went the other way and slipped in his sixth goal of the season at 2:30 of the final frame. Canucks goalie Jacob Markstrom had a brilliant game but lost track of Lowry's whereabouts on the play
The Canucks maintained Markstrom was jostled on the play and asked for a review, but the call on the ice of a good goal was upheld.
Jets center Mark Scheifele notched his 24th goal of the season into an empty net with less than a minute left in the game.
Winnipeg (30-37-6) won for the first time in its last four games, while Vancouver (27-33-12) lost its fifth straight.
Markstrom stopped 46 shots, including 19 in the second period when the Jets buzzed on a couple of power-play opportunities. He also flashed his catching mitt to steal a goal away from Scheifele with about eight minutes left in regulation time to keep the Canucks within one.
Winnipeg goalie Ondrej Pavelec made 28 saves to record his first shutout of the season.
The Jets wrap up a four-game home stand Thursday when the Los Angeles Kings visit the MTS Centre. The Canucks travel to Nashville to battle the Predators on Thursday and then play the host St. Louis Blues on Friday.

Vancouver has shut down C Brandon Sutter (broken jaw), RW Radim Vrbata (knee) and D Alex Edler (broken foot) for the season. D Chris Tanev (undisclosed), C Markus Granlund (upper body), D Luca Sbisa (upper body), RW Derek Dorsett (upper body), D Yannick Weber (upper body) and RW Jannik Hansen (upper body) did not play Tuesday. ... Jets head coach Paul Maurice has indicated he will rotate his goalies for the rest of the season. ... Canucks captain, C Henrik Sedin, entered the game tied with the great Maurice (The Rocket) Richard of the Montreal Canadiens with 965 career points and 88th spot on the NHL's all-time scoring list.
