As expected, Ohio State are the runaway winners in the conference as they inked the third-overall class in the country behind Alabama and LSU with one five-star and 15 four-star recruits.
6’3” linebacker Raekwon McMillian is the five-star prospect and he joins the Buckeyes as the number one ‘backer from the class. Defensive backs Damon Webb and Erick Smith, offensive lineman Demetrius Knox and Jamarco Jones, wide receiver Curtis Samuel, defensive end Jalyn Holmes and linebacker Dante Booker all made the rivals.com top 100 players and give testament to the great work Urban Meyer is doing in Columbus.
The recent success of Michigan State is echoed in the 2014 recruiting class as they take away a better group of players than state rivals Michigan for the first time this millennium. The crop of players is led by defensive lineman Malik McDowell who chose the Spartans over the Wolverines and Buckeyes. However, McDowell’s mother is not happy at her son passing over Michigan and has yet to sign the letter of intent. Despite the hiccup, it is expected that McDowell will be a Michigan State player sooner rather than later.
Safety Montae Nicholson is another to choose the Rose Bowl winners over “bigger” rivals. Running back Madre London and defensive tackle Craig Evans round out the top-tier players from the class.
Penn State’s revival sees 2014 become their first top-three Big Ten class since 2010 as they beat out Michigan, Wisconsin and Nebraska. The Nittany Lions complement six four-star recruits with 18 three-star players.
Wide receivers Saeed Blacknall, De’andre Thompkins and Chris Godwin, tight end Mike Gesicki and athlete Koa Farmer are joined by pro-style quarterback Michael O’Connor who will be competition for sophomore Christian Hackenberg.
