Top 5 College Football Coaching Hires

The college coaching carousel is always in full swing and doesn't stop for anyone.  Hop on the ride and check out the five best coaching hires to date, and see which teams will improve the most thanks to their recent additions of the nations top up and coming teachers of the game.

5.  Connecticut, Bob Diaco

One of the most aggressively spirited coaches on the market, Diaco is part coach part marketer, which is exactly what a non-bcs team like the university needs.  Certainly not one of the biggest names out there but, Diaco is the perfect fit to get this school back on the map.

4.  Chris Petersen, Washington

You can count the amount of coaches that are able to maximize talent better on one hand as Petersen is one of the best in the game at motivating his players and squeezing every ounce of production out of them.  Although Petersen is about to get well outside his comfort zone when it comes to dealing with media and recruiting at the BCS level the fact remains, if their was one-hundred coaches and you needed one to win you a game Petersen would be one of your finalists.

3.  Bryan Harsin, Boise State

Harsin and Boise State fit like a glove.  Although very raw and unproven with a 7-5 record at Arkansas State Harsin has experience coaching at Boise, playing at Boise, and was even born in Boise.  A match made in heaven there's no question no matter wants success more for the school program than coach Harsin.

2.  Charlie Strong, Texas

Although Strong has the potential to be great for now he is still a very solid hire for the Texas Longhorns who are in uncharted waters as this is the first time they've had to search for a new head coaching candidate in decades.  Strong is equally talented at evaluating and acquiring talent which will pay huge dividends in the recruiting department.  If he can handle the political games at the University of Texas he should thrive as the next head coach for years to come.

1.  James Franklin, Penn State

With the post-Paterno era still in the fore front of peoples minds, Franklin will continue to erase people's worries and tension by saying and doing all the right things as new head coach.  On top of that Franklin should also produce on the field after going 16-4 in his last 20 games at Vanderbuilt.  Although he doesn't excel at one thing Franklin leaves nothing to complain about as he is one of the safest hires of the off-season and the perfect match for a still soothing and vulnerable Penn State.
