The Oakland Athletics have promoted top pitching prospect Jharel Cotton from Triple-A Nashville. He will make his Major League debut Wednesday afternoon against the Los Angeles Angels. 

Cotton, 24, was acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers in the deal that sent Rich Hill and Josh Reddick to Southern California earlier this summer. He was pitching to a 2.82 ERA with more than a strikeout per inning in Nashville at the time of the move.
