A slow recovery from surgery last year will sideline San Francisco Giants closer Mark Melancon for longer than expected. The 33-year-old continued to feel discomfort following his rehab from pronator muscle surgery and landed on the disabled list today.

In his absence, Sam Dyson and Hunter Strickland are expected to get the first cracks at save opportunities.
