Nationals OF Bryce Harper Out of Lineup on Friday

August 12th, 2016

The Washington Nationals will once again play without right fielder Bryce Harper tonight, as the team has decided to hold him out with a lingering neck injury that has kept him out of action for nearly a week. The team has called him day-to-day, but with their ability to backdate his injury to his last appearance and Harper's extended absence, it's a surprise he hasn't already been placed on the 15-day disabled list.

While Harper's exit is certainly a blow, he has been one of the worst Nationals' hitters since July 1 with a .179 batting average, 63 wRC+ and has struck out in 20.5 percent of his plate appearances.

We'll provide further updates and analysis if the Nationals put Harper on the disabled list.
