Out since late April with a sprained right knee, Boston Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval will beging a rehab assignment on Friday. This puts him in line to return to the big league club in late May. 

Prior to going down to injury, Sandoval was hitting just .213 with three homers and 10 RBI in 17 games.
