The Boston Red Sox have a new top of the rotation arm after acquiring San Diego Padres ace Drew Pomeranz on Thursday afternoon.
Pomeranz, who was originally picked up by San Diego in an off-season deal with the Oakland Athletics, was having himself a stellar season in Southern California at the time of the deal.
In 17 starts this season, the 27-year-old Pomeranz has posted an 8-7 record with a 2.47 ERA and 1.06 WHIP while striking out an average of more than 10 batters per nine innings. He figures to slot in behind David Price in Boston's rotation.
