In the midst of a rough start to the season, where the Oakland Athletics rotation has been taken to the woodshed many nights by opposing teams, the A's lineup took a major hit in last night's game. Outfielder Josh Reddick's thumb got caught on Starlin Castro's cleat and tests this morning revealed Reddick fractured his thumb.
The injury is expected to keep Reddick out of action for four-to-six weeks, which should put him right around late-June or early-July. It couldn't have come at a worse time for the oft-injured 29-year-old, he was in the midst of bounce back season with a .322 batting average, five home runs and 18 RBI's.
With Reddick now out of action, Coco Crisp should step into right field. Crisp has struggled at the plate this season with just a .235 batting average, .302 on-base percentage and 18 strikeouts. Even with everyday playing time, Crisp isn't producing at a fantasy-worthy level to own in standard leagues.
