After missing five weeks of action due to a wrist injury earlier this year, Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman returned to action late last month. Unfortunately for the fledgling Braves and their best hitter, Freeman is back on the disabled list—this time after straining his right oblique muscle.
This means that Freeman, 25, played a total of 10 games in between stints on the DL. When healthy, he's one of the better all-around first baseman in the game. This season has seen the two-time All-Star hit .284 with 14 homers, 45 RBI's and a .848 OPS.
With Freeman sidelined for at least the next two weeks, Chris Johnson, who started Tuesday evening against the San Francisco Giants, will likely get the most play at that position. Joey Terdoslavich will likely see some action as well. For his part, Johnson is hitting just .240 with two homers in 146 at-bats this season. He's not exactly someone that's going to provide much juice in Freeman's stead.
