As you would expect from a pitcher as dominant as Bumgarner he has dominated the mediocre Phillies during his career. Bumgarner has held the Phillies to a .217 team batting average with 29 strikeouts in 92 at bats good for a strikeout rate of 32 percent. The Phillies rank 29th in runs, 29th in batting average, 29th in slugging percentage and 30th in on base percentage. Now the Phillies have the unfortunate task of facing a pitcher who has held teams to two or fewer runs in four of his last five starts, while striking out at least nine hitters in three of those starts. It is going to cost a pretty penny to start Bumgarner but he is worth every dollar.
