Top Starting Pitcher Value Play
Ivan Nova, New York Yankees $6,900
Fresh off of Tommy John surgery Nova delivered a great starts against the Phillies going 6.2 innings allowing no runs on only three hits. If there was a negative to take away from his first start back it was that he only had one strikeout, but the strikeouts will com as he familiarizes himself with major league hitters. Tonight he pitches against a tougher opponent in the Angels, but they have struggled as a team to hit right handed pitching and many hitters on that team have a high strikeout rate so Nova should be able to capitalize on that and improve on his strikeout totals.
Top Catcher Value Play
Jonathan Lucroy, Milwaukee Brewers $2,800
It has been a disappointing season for Lucroy to this point but he showed up big last night with four hits and a pair of runs and RBI. Lucroy ahs a much tougher pitcher tonight in Cole Hamels but Lucroy has faired well off Hamels in his career going 6/13 with a homerun and three RBI. Hamels has been spotty in two of his last three starts, and against a team that he ahs struggled against throughout his career Lucroy and the rest of his teammates could be in for a big day.
Top First Base Value Play
Yonder Alonso, San Diego Padres $2,800
Alonso has been one of the few Padres still hitting the ball. Many hitters have cooled off in that lineup, but not Alonso, as he is batting .304 the last week with five runs and a couple of RBI. Mike Montgomery has been fantastic for the Mariners this season, but has been a littler more generous to left handed hitters, as they have a .250 batting average off him.
Top Second Base Value Play
Devon Travis, Toronto Blue Jays $3,000
Travis has been solid since coming off the disabled list with at least one hit in three of his four games, and he has scored a run in each game that he has recorded a hit in. Travis has a ton of pop for a second basemen, and if he is back to the top of the order like he was before the injury, Travis has very high upside in a potent offense that is facing a pitcher (Eduardo Rodriguez) who they crushed for nine runs three starts ago.
Top Third Base Value Play
Jake Lamb, Arizona Diamondbacks $3,100
Lamb was slow to find his swing coming back from an injury, but he looks to be finding his groove the last week or so. Over that time Lamb is batting .333 with a homerun, three runs and three RBI. Carlos Frias is the pitcher for the Dodgers tonight and he has been terrible against left handed hitters. Lefties are batting a whopping .371 off of Frias, and Lamb is hitting .284 off righties so this could be a big day for the young Lamb.
Top short Stop Value Play
J.J. Hardy, Baltimore Orioles $2,400
Hardy has been a machine the last two weeks, batting .320 with 12 runs and nine RBI. On the mound for the Rangers is Colby Lewis, and when you mix in a hot batter with who has had success against a mediocre pitcher you have the making for a monster day. Hardy is batting .333 off Lewis with a pair of homeruns and four RBI.
Top Outfield Value Play
Nelson Cruz, Seattle Mariners $3,000
Cruz has had a really bad month of June only batting .228 with one homerun, four runs and eight RBI. Cruz must realize July is right around the corner though because the bat is starting to come around the last few games. Cruz has hit safely in his last three games and has a pair of RBI to show for it. On the mound for the Padres is Ian Kennedy, who has an ERA above five and has allowed right handed hitters to bat .281 with seven homeruns.

Before rosters lock be sure to check for any games that may have already been postponed due to rain. Make sure you check any lineups that are released early enough to make sure that all of your players are in the starting lineup. There are no late game lineup changes, so once the first game in your lobby starts you can no longer edit your lineup. This makes it risky to pick players in night games so do your best to make sure they are healthy and in all likelihood starting. This cash lineup is made the night before the games, so things are bound to change over the course of the day.
