We are all aware of what happened this week as the Dodgers and Diamondbacks were in a lengthy brawl. This is the second brawl the Dodgers have been in this season and both have had Zack Greinke involved. Greinke threw at two different hitters and it even took him two tries to hit one of them. Ian Kennedy then retaliated by hitting Yasiel Puig in the face, once this happened most thought it would be done, until Greinke came back up to bat. Kennedy hit him on the first pitch and thus began the fight. Greinke was not really involved in anything because he is what some would call “chicken shit”. I’m looking at you Mr. Carlos Quentin.
Anyways, after the dust was settled and the game was over MLB had to begin doing what they do after every fight and that is give up suspensions. Kennedy was given the most games with 10 being his amount, this will make him likely miss two games. Other players received suspensions that didn’t really have any involvement at all, like Eric Hinske who received five games. The oddest of the odd goes to Mr. Greinke who did not receive a single game or even a fine.
I think that this is ridiculous because if Greinke didn’t throw at the Diamondbacks to begin with none of this would have happened. The MLB also decided not to give Puig anything besides a fine as he is the new “poster boy” of baseball. Major League Baseball has angered a lot of fans due to how they decided to deal with this situation. One. How in the hell does Greinke get absolutely nothing. Two. How does Puig only get a fine, as he was throwing punches.
This makes me believe that the league wants to keep players like Puig and Greinke on the field so they can make more money. It is a business and I believe that this is the only reason that they did it. They are clearly showing favoritism to the Dodgers and it is a bit ridiculous. The worst part of it all is that there is nothing anyone can do about it as Bud Selig continues to do whatever he wants to, with no regard for anyone else.
