After trainers walked off the field alongside third baseman Justin Turner and the team announced he exited Thursday's game with a hamstring injury, many knew what was coming. On Friday it was made official as the Los Angeles Dodgers placed Turner on the 10-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring. With a short bench, the team felt they had no other decision than to place Turner on the DL immediately.

It's unfortunate news for the Dodgers, fantasy owners and Turner. The 32-year-old was a core part of the team's lineup and with a .379/.453/.493 slash line, he was playing at an extremely high All Star level and seemed to be the team's early MVP through the first six weeks of the season. While Turner had just one home run on the year, he was a fantastic source of hits and run production for the team.

This could ultimately be a short stay on the disabled list for Turner. If not for the short bench, Los Angeles could have opted to keep Turner out for a few days then see how he felt on Monday. Instead, he'll be out for at least the next 10 days.

No timetable has been set for Turner's return, but for now the Dodgers will let Kiké Hernandez have the first crack at the hot corner. Hernandez is in the Dodgers' lineup on Friday, but his numbers are down this season and he has not yet shown he can be a DFS option even in the right matchups. With that in mind, fantasy owners in season-long leagues should keep him far out of mind if they want to make any additions.
