With a playoff spot all but secured, the Los Angeles Dodgers continued to excercise extreme caution. On Saturday, Los Angeles placed starting pitcher Yu Darvish on the 10-day disabled list with tightness in his back.
While Darvish wanted to make his next scheduled start, manager Dave Roberts and the Dodgers opted to play it safe and place him on the disabled list. Los Angeles backdated the disabled list move to after his last start, so he shouldn't miss more than a week of action.
In his first here starts with Los Angeles, Darvish demonstrated why he was so coveted by the Dodgers. Across 18 innings, Darvish posted a 22/4 K/BB ratio and a 2.55 ERA. If he misses the minimum amount of time as expected, fantasy owners and Dodgers fans should feel fairly relieved.
