Fantasy Baseball Daily 4.13.14

Even though there is a full slate of games today there are unfortunately are not many enticing cheap pitching options.  I generally prefer to find a cheap pitcher who has a good shot at getting the win so that I can stack up on the better hitters.  For me today I decided to risk it with my hitters and use a large amount of my value picks so that I could have Max Scherzer as my pitcher.

We bring you fantasy daily picks for FanDuel.com and if you haven’t signed up yet, be sure to follow this link http://eDraft.com/FanDuel/MLB to receive a 100% deposit bonus  on your initial deposit.  This is an amazing deal that you can’t miss so be sure to check it out and make yourself some extra cash .  The cap for FanDuel is $35,000 with only one player at each position like a real MLB lineup (with the exception of outfielders where you can start any three players that are outfield eligible.)

The scoring system for FanDuel is as follows:

Hitters: Single = 1pt, Double = 2pts, Triple = 3pts, Homerun = 4pts, RBI = 1pt, Run = 1pt, Walk = 1pt,
Stolen Base = 2pts, Hit By Pitch = 1, Out (calculated as at bats - hits) = -.25pt
Pitchers: Win = 4pts, Earned Run = -1pt, Strike Out = 1pt, Innings Pitched = 1pt

Value Picks

Pitcher

Scott Kazmir, Athletics, $6,400: Kazmir has pitched very well to start the year and is the proud owner of a 2.03 ERA and a 2-0 record to go along with it.  Through 13.2 innings Kazmir has ten strikeouts and should be able to neutralize a Mariners offense that gets most of it’s pop from left handed hitters.

Catcher
Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Marlins, $2,700:
Despite only hitting .250 Saltalamacchia has still managed to hit three doubles and one home run to give himself six runs and four RBI. The Marlins face Kyle Kendrick who was shelled in his last start against the Brewers.  The Marlins are hitting the ball very well as a team and are scoring a ton of runs right now.  Look for that trend to continue, thanks to Kendrick and the very sloppy defense of the Phillies.

First Base
Matt Adams, Cardinals, $3,300:
I listed Adams as a value pick last night and he rewarded though who selected him with his first homerun of the season.  Adams has a juicy match up today against Edwin Jackson who tends to leave a lot of pitches over the heart of the plate.  Adams is locked in right now and looks to extend his homerun streak to two games.

Second  Base
Omar Infante, Royals, $2,900:
Even though he disappointed yesterday with an 0-4 performance he will have a chance to make up for it today against Kevin Correia who is sporting a hefty 6.17ERA through two starts.

Third Base
Conor Gillaspie, White Sox, $2,500:
Gillaspie continues to hit the ball as he still has not gone hitless in any game this year.  The opposing pitcher is Corey Kluber and while he better in his second start he still surrendered nine hits and three runs in only six innings of work.  Ride Gillaspie while he’s hot as he is an extremely cheap option at third base.

Short Stop
Brandon Crawford, Giants, $2,800: Crawford has really begun to heat up over the last fives games as he as a five game hitting streak and has collected four RBI and two runs scored during that span.  If you are looking for a bargain short stop they don’t get much more consistent than Crawford.

Outfield
Adam Eaton, White Sox, $3,300:
With the way Eaton has been hitting and scoring runs it’s a no brainer to pick him.  Eaton has a five game hitting streak going either 2/4 or 2/3 in all five games.  During the hitting streak Eaton has ten runs scored four RBI a home run and one steal.

My Lineup

Pitcher
Max Scherzer, Tigers, $9,400:
With the former CY Young award winner facing the light hitting Padres I felt it necessary to have him on my team despite the high price tag.  I feel confident enough in my low price high value guys that it is worth spending such a high percentage of my cap room on my starting pitcher.

Catcher
Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Marlins, $2,700

First Base
Matt Adams, Cardinals, $3,300

Second Base
Omar Infante, Royals, $2,900

Third Base
Conor Gillaspie, White Sox, $2,500

Short Stop
Brandon Crawford, Giants, $4,000

Outfield
Justin Upton, Braves, $4,000:
LOCKED IN, that’s what Upton is right now.  With three hits in each of his last three games to go along with three homeruns, six runs and six RBI.  Upton is barreling up everything he hits right now, so get him in your lineups.

Outfield
Adam Eaton, White Sox, $3,300

Outfield
Alex Rios, Rangers, $3,900:
Facing the soft tossing Brett Oberholtzer Rios should have a good game particularly if Beltre is able to work himself back into the lineup.  Despite not hitting the ball in his last three games Rios at least has two steals during that span.  I would be shocked to see him go hitless four games in a row.

Don't forget to check your lineup before each game to make sure that everyone in your lineup is starting.  The last thing you want is a zero spot in your lineup costing yourself money.
