Fantasy Baseball Daily 4.17.14

Unfortunately for us today does not bring us a full slate of games, thus limiting our options making every choice we make that much more crucial.  When there are fewer games you may want to look into getting three of the top players at their positions to try and get some sure points.  This will help make up the risk you will have to be taking at other positions due to them being more shallow than usual with fewer teams playing.

We bring you fantasy daily picks for FanDuel.com and if you haven’t signed up yet, be sure to follow this link http://eDraft.com/FanDuel/MLB to receive a 100% deposit bonus  on your initial deposit. This is an amazing deal that you can’t miss so be sure to check it out and make yourself some extra cash. The cap for FanDuel is $35,000 with only one player at each position like a real MLB lineup (with the exception of outfielders where you can start any three players that are outfield eligible).

The scoring system for FanDuel  is as follows:

Hitters: Single = 1pt, Double = 2pts, Triple = 3pts, Homerun = 4pts, RBI = 1pt, Run = 1pt, Walk = 1pt,
Stolen Base = 2pts, Hit By Pitch = 1, Out (calculated as at bats - hits) = -.25pt
Pitchers: Win = 4pts, Earned Run = -1pt, Strike Out = 1pt, Innings Pitched = 1pt

Value Picks

Starting Pitcher
Alex Wood, Braves, $6,500:
Wood has been very efficient to start the 2014, with a sparkling ERA of 1.89 to go along with 17 strikeouts in 19 innings.  Wood has been dominant against two powerful offense in the Brewers and the Nationals who he faced twice.  This time around he faces the Phillies which is a relatively weak offense that tends to struggle mightily against left handed pitchers.  Wood should be dominant once more and improve his record to 3-1.

Catcher
Salvador Perez, Royals, $3,100:
While he may not provide much in terms of counting stats due to the Royals overall struggling offense he should be able to get a couple hits and turn in a positive amount of points on a day with a shortened slate of games.

First Base
Allen Craig, Cardinals, $2,900:
Craig may finally be finding his stroke at the plate as he has a five game hitting streak.  Despite not registering more than one hit in any of those games, Craig has either scored or driven in a run in all five games including finally getting his first homerun of the season last night.  If this really is the beginning of a turnaround for Craig you could do a lot worse than starting the former all star for only $2,900.

Second Base
Danny Espinosa, Nationals, $2,700:
For now at least Espinosa has become a more polished hitter who puts the ball in play a lot more than in previous years.  If he can continue to keep the strikeout rate low there’s no reason Espinosa can’t provide solid numbers with his rare combination of power and speed from the second base position.

Third Base
Trevor Plouffe, Twins, $3,100:
Plouffe and the Twins square off tomorrow against the Blue Jays who have R.A. Dickey on the mound.  Dickey has been hit or miss so far this season in three starts he has given up six, zero, and five earned runs in those starts.  If this is another one of those off games for Dickey Plouffe should be a big part of the hit parade and provide plenty of value for your team.

Short Stop
Everth Cabrera, Padres, $3,000:
Cabrera has a very good matchup today against Franklin Morales who was so bad in first two starts that he was demoted to the bullpen.  With the recent injury to Brett Anderson, Morales is back in the rotation, but I would be surprised to see him take advantage of this new opportunity based on just how bad he has been so far in 2014.

Outfield
Michael Morse, Giants, $3,000:
Morse has really flown under the radar so far in 2014 despite his very good numbers.  Morse is batting .333 with nine runs scored, two homeruns, and ten RBI.  Even though he is facing a good pitcher tonight in Hyun-Jin Ryu Morse has proven himself capable of being productive to this point.  The Giants are surprisingly one of the best offenses in baseball right now and as long as Morse stays hot in that hot offense there should be plenty of opportunities for Morse to remain relevant and produce.
