Fantasy Baseball Daily 4.8.14

With essentially every team playing today there is plenty of talent to choose from when picking a lineup. If you want to don’t be afraid to stack Brewers players as I think they are going to have a big day tomorrow against the Phillies. My fantasy picks are from FanDuel.com.  If you have yet to sign up on FanDuel now is the time, as you will receive a 1000 percent deposit bonus on your initial deposit when you join through this link.

On FanDuel  you are allotted a $ 35,000 cap for selecting players. Your lineup will consist of one starting pitcher and one position player at each position, except for outfield where you select three outfielders.

Hitters: Single = 1pt, Double = 2pts, Triple = 3pts, Homerun = 4pts, RBI = 1pt, Run = 1pt, Walk = 1pt,
Stolen Base = 2pts, Hit By Pitch = 1, Out (calculated as at bats - hits) = -.25pt
Pitchers: Win = 4pts, Earned Run = -1pt, Strike Out = 1pt, Innings Pitched = 1pt

Good Value Players

Pitcher
Charlie Morton, Pirates, $5,000:
Morton had a solid outing in his first start of the season against the Cubs and he faces that same team today.  Morton has had plenty of rest as the last time he pitched was on the second so he should be well rested for his rematch against the Cubs.  At only $5,000 Morton is well worth the risk as he threw up six scoreless with six strikeouts his first time out and could repeat that same performance against the weak hitting Cubs.

Catcher
Alex Avila, Tigers, $3,000:
Despite not hitting the ball well to start the season Avila is batting in a decent run producing spot at sixth in the powerful Tigers lineup.  Dan Haren has been hit or miss the past few seasons and seeing as he was very good in his last start he’s probably due for one of patented stinkers.

First Base
Allen Craig, Cardinals, $3,000:
Eventually Craig is going to start hitting the ball.  He’s too good of a hitter to remain in a slump for much longer.  At only $3,000 if Craig can turn it around versus Homer Bailey you will have a steal in Allen Craig.

Second Base
Anthony Rendon, Nationals, $3,200:
Rendon has been on fire this year.  With at least one hit in every game it’s difficult not to start Rendon

Third Base
Yangervis Solarte, Yankees, $3,000:
There aren’t many batters in baseball right now hotter than Solarte.  Solarte has nine hits in 20 at bats with four doubles, four runs scored and six RBI.  Certainly Solarte is making the most of his playing time due to injuries and should have another good day at the plate tomorrow against the south paw Bruce Chen

Short Stop
Derek Jeter, Yankees, $2,800:
Throughout his career Jeter has hit the Orioles very well.  Jeter continues to hit lefties very well even with age and has a career .429 batting average versus the left handed Bruce Chen.  You could do a lot worse at shortstop today than Jeter at the low price tag of $2,800.

Outfield
Khris Davis, Brewers, #3,200:
Davis’s bat really came to life during the Boston series going eight for fifteen with four doubles six runs scored and one RBI.  It’s only a matter of time before Davis hits that first homerun.  Kyle Kendrick is the slated starter for the Phillies tomorrow and when he’s missing his spots with the fastballs the opposing team feasts off him.  I have feeling tomorrow is going to be one of those days for Kendrick.

My Lineup

Pitcher: Charlie Morton, Pirates, $5,000

Catcher: Jonathan Lucroy, Brewers, $3,500

First Base: Allen Craig, Cardinals, $3,000

Second Base: Dustin Pedroia, Red Sox, $3,800

Third Base: David Wright, Mets, $4,000: There are not a ton of enticing matchups at third base for daily’s today.  Wright however should have a very good game against Aaron Harang against whom he has a .524 batting average making Wright well worth the investment.

Short Stop: Chris Owings, Diamondbacks, $2,800

Outfield: Ryan Braun, Brewers, $4,200

Outfield: Alex Rios, Rangers, $3,800

Outfield: Andrew McCutchen, Pirates, $4,500: Even though McCutchen has not been hitting the ball well so far I’m playing him more because I think he has a good shot to steal a bag in this game and score a few runs.  At worst McCutchen should be able to work a walk against the always wild Edwin Jackson and steal a bag or two in this game.

Don't forget to check your lineup before each game to make sure that everyone in your lineup is starting. The last thing you want is a zero spot in your lineup costing yourself money.
