Today is a tough day in daily’s as we only have eleven games being played this Thursday, and there are not many enticing pitchers to choose from today. You may be better off spending a little more cash on the pitcher position today as a ton of back the rotation starters are pitching today and the few number ones that are going seem to all have tough opponents. Luckily there are some very hot hitters who do not cost a lot which is really going to help with the extra cash that will have to be spent on the pitcher.
We bring you fantasy daily picks for FanDuel .com and if you haven’t signed up yet, be sure to follow this link http://eDraft.com/FanDuel/MLB to receive a 100% deposit bonus on your initial deposit. This is an amazing deal that you can’t miss so be sure to check it out and make yourself some extra cash. The cap for FanDuel is $35,000 with only one player at each position like a real MLB lineup (with the exception of outfielders where you can start any three players that are outfield eligible).
The scoring system for FanDuel is as follows:
Batters: Single = 1pt, Double = 2pts, Triple = 3pts, Homerun = 4pts, RBI = 1pt, Run = 1pt, Walk = 1pt,
Stolen Base = 2pts, Hit By Pitch = 1, Out (calculated as at bats - hits) = -.25pt
Pitchers: Win = 4pts, Earned Run = -1pt, Strike Out = 1pt, Innings Pitched = 1pt
Good Value Plays
Pitcher
Scott Kazmir, Athletics, $7,600: There are not a ton of good, cheap options at the pitcher position today. There appears to be a lot of back of the rotation starters pitching today which is never a recipe for success. $7,600 is not a terrible cap hit when you are selecting your pitcher, especially for a pitcher who has been as dominant as Kazmir has this year. Kazmir is striking out nearly a batter per inning and has a 1.65 Era to go along with a .77 WHIP. With the A’s playing the Astros, Kazmir should have no problem continuing to build upon his strong season.
Catcher
Dioner Navarro, Blue Jays, $2,800: Navarro has been more than serviceable up to this point. Quietly he is having a strong season with a .280 batting average to go along with 12 RBI and nine runs scored. Bud Norris is on the mound who has had his struggles this year, and has not pitched well against A.L. East opponents throughout his career. Navarro is a chap solid option today with the limited options at catcher with the shortened amount of games being played.
First Base
Eric Hosmer, Royals, $2,800: Hosmer is hitting the ball very well of late with three multi hit games in his last four games played. Even though he has yet to hit a homerun his batting average is very good, and mire RBI should come as the Royals lineup as a whole is beginning to heat up. Corey Kluber is on the mound for the Indians and to say he has been shaky this year would be an understatement. He’s pitched to a 5.40 ERA and an astonishingly high WHIP which sits at 1.71. Hosmer is a good bet to have a solid game today.
Second Base
Matt Adams, Cardinals, $2,800: The one thing holding back Adams right now is his manager. Despite the extreme problems Allen Craig continues to bat either second or cleanup in the lineup ahead of Adams. Once Craig starts hitting the ball or Adams gets to bat ahead of Craig he will continue to miss out on valuable RBI opportunities. Regardless though you can’t keep Adams off the bases right now as he’s batting .346 and showing no signs of struggling in his first stint as a full time player. Even if he doesn’t drive in any runs, Adams continues to provide plus value with the plethora of base hits he is getting right now.
Second Base
Dee Gordon, Dodgers, $3,200: This is a player you will have to check up on game time if you want to use him, which is risky because it’s a west cost game and is the last scheduled game of the tonight. Gordon suffered a head injury tow nights ago that kept him out of last nights lineup. If he is able to play though he is an enticing matchup as he is finally hitting the ball this year and displaying that great speed he has. Gordon is batting .369 with a major league leading 12 steals already. If you are feeling lucky then go ahead and start him as the opposing pitcher is Kyle Kendrick, an average pitcher at best who is very easy to steal on.
Third Base
Marcus Semien, White Sox, $3,100: Semien has been on fire of late with eight RBI in his last four games. Semien has a very tough game tomorrow with last years CY Young award winner Max Scherzer on the mound. If anyone in baseball can cool a hot bat it is Scherzer but I’m banking on Semien being hot enough right now to have at least one more good game.
Short Stop
Chris Owings, Diamondbacks, $2,600: After going through a rough patch where Owings was struggling to hit the ball he is back at it again and has his batting average back over .300. Owings continues to bat near the bottom of the order which is really hurting his ability to score runs as last nights run puts him up to five on the year. However with Edwin Jackson on the mound the Diamondbacks should feast at the plate tomorrow and maybe just maybe Owings can score one or more runs tomorrow and steal his first base in nearly two weeks.
Outfield
Chris Colabello, Twins, $2,800: Colabello is raking at the plate right now with a seven game hitting streak. During this streak he has 10 of his 22 RBI and has hit his first two homeruns in his last two games. Tomorrow is going to be just another day at the ballpark for Colabello with Erik Bedard pitching for the Rays. Bedard has been a mediocre pitcher for years now and is not a threat to put a stop to the hot streak Colabello has been on.
My Lineup
Pitcher
Scott Kazmir, Athletics, $7,600
Catcher
Dioner Navarro, Blue Jays, $2,800
First Base
Paul Goldschmidt, Diamondbacks, $3,800
Second Base
Emilio Bonifacio, Cubs, $3,200: For me I am not comfortable waiting on word from a team to see if a player is going to be in the lineup that night. That is why I am steering clear of Gordon as much as I would like to start him. Bonafacio is not a bad backup choice though, with the way he has hit the ball all season long. You can never go wrong starting a player facing the Diamondbacks as they are giving up runs at an unheard of pace, which is why Bonafacio is my choice for second base.
Third Base
Evan Longoria, Rays, $4,100: He’s arguably the best third baseman in the league and for the moment is batting above .300 which is a great sign after only batting .269 last season. There is never a reason not to start Longoria so when I have enough cash to start him I make sure I do.
Short Stop
Everth Cabrera, Padres, $3,000
Outfield
Adam Jones, Orioles, $3,200
Outfield
Andrew McCutchen, Pirates, $4,100: The power stroke is finally back for McCutchen as he has now hit his first three homeruns in three consecutive games. McCutchen has seven overall hits in his last three games and when he’s going good as he is right now it is difficult to keep him out of my lineup.
Outfield
Chris Colabello, Twins, $2,800
Don't forget to check your lineup before each game to make sure that everyone in your lineup is starting. The last thing you want is a zero spot in your lineup costing yourself money.
