Good Value Players
Pitcher
Jaime Garcia, Cardinals, $5,100: Garcia was roughed up in his first start of the year to the tune of four runs over seven innings against the Braves. While the four runs look ugly a promising thing to take out of the outing was the fact that he went seven innings and only surrendered five hits with no walks. Next up for the south paw are the Reds who have surprisingly been just terrible at the plate. They are 28th in runs scored and 24th in batting average and are without their alls tar first baseman Joey Votto. Garcia should have a nice rebound start today as he looks to collect his first win of the season.
Catcher
John Jaso, Athletics, $3,100: Jaso has been one of the more productive catchers of 2014 to this part of the season. With the erratic R.A. Dickey on the mound Jaso should have no shortage of run driving opportunities.
First Base
Joe Mauer, Twins, $2,900: One of the most successful batters of the decade Mauer is once again having a productive season even if not up to his standards. Despite Ryan Vogelsong’s recent success on the mound the Twins have an above average offense ranked tenth in the league in runs scored. Mauer has been scoring runs on a consistent basis this year and I wouldn’t expect many things to change with tomorrow’s game.
Second Base
Emilio Bonifacio, Cubs, $3,100: Bonifacio has cooled off after an extremely hot start but has started to pick things back up with five hits in his last six games to go along with three runs and three RBI. Now he gets to face the inexperienced Donn Roach who was shelled in his first start, giving up four runs in three innings.
Third Base
Yangervis Solarte, Yankees, $3,100: Solarte has been a savior for the Yankees as he leads the team in batting average and RBI. With a game against John Danks and his 5.64 ERA Solarte should be able to add on to his team leading 24 RBI.
Short Stop
Ian Desmond, Nationals, $3,000: Desmond has been hitting the ball very well lately over the last two weeks. He has hit safely in ten of his last twelve games and also has four homeruns during that span to go along with nine RBI. The matchup isn’t the greatest with Gerrit Cole on the mound but Desmond has been so hot at the plate I fell comfortable starting him.
Outfield
Juan Lagares, Mets, $3,100: Lagares has possibly been the best hitter on the Mets this season. He is batting over .300 and has been hot over the last four games. He has five RBI and a homerun during that span and with another game against the Diamondbacks, Lagares should have no issues keeping up his hitting ways.
