Tonight we have a full slate of games with all 30 teams playing night games tonight. We look like we are in store for a big night for batters as we have a ton of below average and average pitchers taking the mound tonight. This makes it more important for us to make sure we select a pitcher that can get the win to help give us a four point advantage over our opponents.

Good Value Plays
Pitcher
Jeremy Guthrie, Royals, $5,800: Sure Guthrie’s numbers this year are nothing special as his numbers are falling right in line with what he has done for his career.. A pitcher with a 4.50 ERA is generally not the smartest pick but he does have a friendly matchup versus the weak hitting Padres in the spacious Petco Park. While the start likely won’t be spectacular he should get the job done, liking giving you six innings of two run ball with a few strikeouts sprinkled in there, which at the price of $5,800 is a bargain.
Catcher
Jonathan Lucroy, Brewers, $2,900: Lucroy has been a solid contributor in the batting average all season long. The problem has been the lack of power (one homerun), and RBI (only 9). Fortunately a series against the Diamondbacks should give Lucroy more than his fair share of RBI opportunities.
First Base
Allen Craig, Cardinals, $2,600: Craig ended April on a great note with a six game hitting streak and a 4/5 performance on the last day. May has cooled him off again but if there is one pitcher on the Braves pitching staff you can feel comfortable starting batters against it is Gavin Floyd who is making his first start of the year coming off an injury. Batting in the middle of a potent Cardinals lineup has it’s perks which should include ample opportunities for Craig to drive in runs.
Second Base
Jose Altuve, Astros, $3,200: Altuve has been fairly productive of late with four runs scored, two RBI and two steals over his past four games. Altuve has done a great job on the base paths as he’s tied for third in the majors in steals with 11 and has only been caught once. With a game against the Tigers tonight if Altuve can get on base without anyone in front of him there’s a good chance he can steal as the tigers catching are not known for their ability to throw out potential base stealers.
Third Base
Marcus Semien, White Sox, $3,300: There is a boom or bust play here because if he doesn’t hit a homerun or have a an RBI double it is hard to find value in him because he doesn’t put the ball in play enough. With Edwin Jackson on the mound though there should be no shortage of base runners for Semien to drive in. Jackson has a tendency to walk a ton of batters as evidenced by his 1.57 WHIP. Jackson has walked at least two batters in every game thus far and has given up three or more runs in four of his six starts. Against this powerful White Sox offense Jackson is going to have a tough time getting outs, and keeping Semien off of the scoreboard.
Short Stop
Adeiny Hechavarria, Marlins, $2,700: Hechavarria doesn’t excel in any category as his power is virtually non-existent and he doesn’t have the speed to steal bases but he continues to hit for a high average and score runs for the potent Marlins offense. He is riding a nice seven game hitting streak and faces a Bartolo Colon who has been bi polar on the mound this year. Depending on which Colon shows up tonight Hechavarria has a chance to rack up a couple of hits and score a few runs as well.
Outfield
Juan Lagares, Mets, $3,100: Lagares has been scorching hot since off the disabled list, batting .400 with three runs scored and two RBI in his four starts thus far. Henderson Alvarez is the starter for the Marlins tonight who is another pitcher who walks far too many batters, which bodes well for the Mets hitters even though they have struggled for most of the year. Lagares is a solid play tonight if you need a cheap outfield option.
