Teixeira has been placed on the 15 day-DL but hopes to return sooner rather than later. Either way if you have him on your team that you are scrambling for options. The chances of you getting big power numbers off of the waiver wire is highly unlikely but you can still survive and find some quality.

The first name that jumps out has got to be Adam LaRoche. He is currently the starting first basemen for the Washington Nationals and has been swinging a hot bat this season. He is currently batting .250 with five runs scored, two home runs, eight RBIs and six walks. These are great numbers considering you are getting this guy through free agency. If you haven’t picked him up by now what is stopping you?

You could also go after the under the radar guys like Chris Colabello of the Minnesota Twins. He has not been given national media attention because it has only been one week but fantasy owners are taking notice. He is currently batting a whopping .370 with five runs scored, one home run and an impressive 11 RBIs. If you want to take a chance on any first baseman outside of the norm this is your guy.

The final first basemen that I will showcase plays for the Houston Astros. Now I know when I say that name you don’t exactly leap for excitement but this guy I am about to name can provide you with some legit numbers.Jesus Guzman's .263 batting average is nice and so is his two home runs and three RBIs. The chances of you getting this guy is very high as well as he is only owned in roughly .5 percent of all leagues. Choose wisely.
