In previous years, the Los Angeles Angels always tried to strike it big in free agency with big moves and heavy contracts. Things have changed. This offseason, the Angels have been quieter, making smaller moves with short-term contracts. That trend continued on Friday when Los Angeles signed Ben Revere to a one-year deal.

Last season, Revere was irrelevant in fantasy with a .217/.260/.300 line. But his career paints a picture of a far more relevant major-league hitter and fantasy player. He owns a .285/.320/.342 and had stolen 20-plus bases in five straight seasons before 2016.

With his arrival in Los Angeles, Revere is likely to be in a platoon role, though he should see the heavier side of the starts in left field. He makes for a solid backup outfielder in fantasy with some on-base numbers and stolen base help.

From a real life perspective, it's a sharp move by the Angels and further strengthens their defense in the outfield.
