The Colorado Rockies have signed two-time All-Star closer Greg Holland to a one-year contract. It's a surprisingly short-term deal for a releiver that's been among the most dominating in the game over the past several seasons.
Holland, 31, is coming off a 2016 campaign with the Kansas City Royals that saw him post a 3.83 ERA and 1.46 WHIP while saving 32 games. It was most definitely a down season by Holland's standards. After all, here's a guy that posted 13-plus K's per nine innings with an ERA under 1.50 en route to earning two All-Star appearances and combining for 93 saves in the previous two seasons.
Going to Colorado should also be a challenge for Holland. To this day, the high-altitude of Coors Field remains the most hitter-friendly ballpark in baseball.
With that said, Holland's presence should surely help the fantasy production we see from the Rockies' rotation. That should most definitely be taken into account here.
